Senior Final Reflection
Over the course of the four years that I've been here at Apex High School, taking the art classes was the best decision that I've ever made. I made some amazing art pieces, even though I only started art in my sophomore year I still accomplished a lot.
I've learned techniques that I never would have imagined that I would enjoy. When I was in Art 2 I learned different pen and ink techniques that were very challenging, but I learned that I really love to do stippling which is where you do cohesive dots in a pattern and can make them as dark or as light as you want for the highlights and shadows. However, for my final project for that class I didn't do stippling and instead did a mix of different techniques, which was okay, but it wasn't the greatest. The truth is the stippling projects I did were mostly outside of class just to practice, aka why there's a stippled dragon next to this paragraph. This dragon took me so long to do, but it's one of my proudest pieces even if there is no story behind it, I still love it.
Another important skill I've learned from being in art is how to take good photographs. I've always taken photos ever since I was little. My grandfather was an amazing photographer and he taught me a lot with a camera that he got me for my birthday. Sadly he passed away in September of 2017, but I still take pictures anywhere I go because I know that they can be used for amazing art projects. In college I'll probably take some photography classes just so that I can get even better and make my grandfather proud.

Overall my experiences here have increased my level of knowledge and my skill. I've learned what art media's I like and what are very challenging for me to work with. I couldn't have done it without the wonderful art teachers that I had. Ms. Purtee and Ms. Rossi. They taught me so much over the course of my time here. I'm getting better and better at doing highlights and shadows, making things look realistic, and getting my creative images onto a canvas. I really couldn't have done it without learning from them. Now as I go off to SCAD (Savannah College of Art and Design) i'm going to take their teachings with me and be able to do some crazy projects while I'm there. Hopefully I will expand my knowledge there, become a great artist, and make my teachers proud of the student that they've taught for the past three years of my High School Experience in art.
