Still Life

I arranged the composition the way I did because of the way the light shined off each individual bottle, I also wanted to challenge myself in a way to prove that I want to do the best that I can and of what I'm capable of. I used the highlights as a guideline and decided not to do the labels because I didn't want the attention to be on the labels, but on the bottles and how they're shaped and formed in my drawing.I believe it's a successful composition, because it's not perfect, but I consider it to be fairly good especially for me who is a beginner and doesn't do many shading drawings. I most certainly believe that I did nine different values of shading, each bottle is very different and the shadowing I'm most proud of because you can just see each shadow so clearly with the highlight as well.Based on my own knowledge I know it's very hard to do the clear glass and doing glass bottles and water is the most difficult to do a shaded drawing, but learning the technique will help and taking this class will help me understand those techniques more. Also it's not easy to do labels at all. Creating value was probably the hardest for me especially with the cloth in the back, but It shows each grove in the table cloth and the roundness of each bottle. The blending took some time to get just right, but I started out in the darkest place away from the highlights then as I got to a different section each time I loosened the pressure just a bit, I sometimes had to go over with a lighter pencil to blend it out just right to give it that certain look. My interpretation of texture was all about the roundness of my bottles and to make them almost look like they were popping off the page that you could almost touch them. If I could change the outcome of these bottles, I definitely feel like I should actually try to do the labels and challenge myself more in doing the clear glass bottle.
