Artist Painting
Monet's Painting |
The artist that I based my painting off of is Claude Monet. The four main ideas or techniques I used from Monet were to use small brush strokes, incorporate light, use different colors of the same color, and to create something that was different and inspiring. I believe that I executed this painting very well, it was something that was out of my comfort zone, but I feel that I pulled it off. It's neat the colors blend well together, I used the short brush strokes of my artist to create the reflecting light in the water that then hit the shark perfectly. Overall I'm very proud of this painting. The most difficult part of this painting was getting the shape of the shark right and doing the reflecting light. They were hard to do, because I've never drawn or painted a shark before so I didn't really know if it was anatomically correct or if it was well proportioned in the painting. With the light it was hard to get it blended into the water and to go from dark to light in the background color. I actually had to restart the light and redo it because it wasn't exactly how I wanted it to be. I chose a lot of bright colors and dark to create a contrast in the water. They reflect Claude Monet's work because he did the same colors and then added lighter colors to them which I feel I did very well especially with the light. Also incorporating light and dark colors is also apart of Monet's work by keeping the light element still there even if some parts are dark. The style of my painting reflects my artist because he does short brush strokes, has smooth textures, and everything fits together like my painting does. If Claude Monet saw my painting, I'd say he'd probably say that it's a good start, using the short brush strokes and the light and that I should keep working on it. If I had to do something different with this project, I'd probably try and make the light a bit better and more shorter brush strokes in the shark and background.
