Pen and Ink: Crazy Cat Lady House.
|
For this project I decided to use cross hatching, regular hatching, and stippling. I chose to do these because of the dimensions of the drawing, I needed to have the straight lines to shade the walls and the flooring, the cross hatching for when the drawing made a weird kind of angle with the regular hatching, then the stippling to help with the cats and their body shapes.I wanted to try all the techniques to just give a variation of them so I can learn more and practice more on each one and see which ones I need to work on and which ones I've got down know.
I used one point perspective because the proportions of the room would look a bit strange if I had done 2 point or 3 point perspective. Perspective is important because when using it you can draw an actually realistic drawing with the different values and it doesn't have to be in a pencil drawing where the pencil smudges and ruins the effect of the picture being realistic. It's also important when you're out in the world like being a contractor or an architect trying to get the angles of the room and do it like the customer wants for their house. The value is very important in this project, because when drawing a room you have to cast the shadows off the walls you don't want it to be the same value as the floor otherwise it'll all look the same and you don't want that. Texture is definitely important in my drawing, because I have to get the texture of the TV's, the cat's fur, and the rug. It's important because it makes the image look realistic and you feel actually really good about yourself and what you've accomplished in your art work. Technically the craftsmanship of the drawing to my standards is pretty impressive, like I never would have thought that I would be able to make a drawing this impressive, lots of people say that it's very impressive and I feel very proud of it. If I were to do this drawing differently, I would probably change the shading on one of the cats in the front of the picture cause it looks a little weird. I'd also change the sign a bit and make it more noticeable. It's important to know the techniques and the skills in this class so for future classes you can show how you've improved and gotten better at what you're passionate about. It also helps to know so that when you're doing compositional drawings you can use these skills to help develop the art piece. It will guide me to help in my future career because when I'm drawing creations for my special effects make up characters I can use this to help me see what kind of shading I want to do on them, especially for texture. |
